North Kitsap Senior Pictures | Adam’s Grad Session at Point No Point
Adam's senior pictures at Point No Point were soft, green, and quietly one of my favorite sessions of the spring. If you want to see more of Adam, he also came out earlier this spring for a full senior portrait session at Howe Farm — check out that session here. This one was all about graduation, and he brought a few details that made it something really special.
The afternoon had bright light filtered through a light overcast sky, which gave everything a soft, even quality that felt very Pacific Northwest in the best way. The greens at Point No Point in May had real depth to them, and the combination of the gentle light and the lush backdrop made the whole session feel calm and unhurried.
We worked through a few different spots during Adam's session. The wooden fence with greenery behind it gave us a more structured, framed feel that was a nice contrast to the open beach. The driftwood added texture and something to interact with, and the beach itself opened everything back up with that wide sky and water behind him. Three distinct backdrops that each gave the gallery a different energy without ever leaving the same stretch of coastline.
Adam is a senior at Olympic High School, and his cap and gown was a classic blue with a white sash. It sat really nicely against the soft greens of the location without competing, just a clean, confident contrast that kept the focus on him.
And then there was the kindergarten graduation photo. Adam brought his picture from his very first graduation, and when he held it up for the shot we realized his kindergarten cap and gown was almost the exact same shade of blue as the one he was wearing that afternoon. Little him and current him in the same frame, connected by a color neither of them planned. It is the kind of detail that sounds simple and turns into one of the most meaningful images in the entire gallery.
He also brought his childhood stuffed animal, and we got a few shots of him holding it in his cap and gown and then one of him walking away from it on the beach. That image of him leaving it behind as he steps forward is one of those that just says something without needing any words.
