Meet Sonia!
A little bit about me :)
Hi, I’m Sonia!
I am 24-years old and a graduate of Central Washington University. I started my business in 2022 and have been serving high school seniors since!
Also in 2022, I met my husband, Kellen! We have now been married for 1 year. 2022 was a year of beginnings! Together, we have two sweet pets — a dog named Dakota and a cat named Cat (you can thank my husband for that creative name, lol). In 2023, we moved to Silverdale, where Kellen grew up. All of his amazing family is here and I am lucky that some of my cousins, grandparents, and my mom live up here, too!
I grew up in Santa Cruz, California and still visit frequently because my dad lives there! When I am in town, I still book senior sessions and get to photograph Santa Cruz high school seniors in beautiful places like Big Sur, Davenport, and Monterey. (Washington seniors, if you want your session there, too, I have had Washington seniors fly down for their session! Flights to San Jose are cheap if you book in advance!)
I can’t wait to meet you and be your senior photographer!
I developed my love for senior portraits during high school and took many of my friends’ senior portraits. I even took my own high school senior pictures, and later, college graduation portraits! I realized later that although it was fun to have taken my own senior pictures, I wished I would have invested in a full senior session with a different photographer.
My high school did not allow us to submit our own senior photos. Instead, they hired a photography company to do mini sessions in the school’s wooded area. The session was very short and impersonal — I remember trying to make a joke with the photographer and they did not acknowledge it (very awkward and cringe).
Looking back to that inspired me to create a senior portrait experience that was the opposite. One where we have enough time for the senior to feel comfortable, one where the senior feels that their session is personal to them and represents who they are, and one where it is a lighthearted, happy experience and we have fun together. That is where the idea for Sonia Rose Photography formed and I am so happy to have been able to and continue to serve high school seniors in this way.
Alongside photography, I worked in the automotive industry for about 5 years. From service advising to being an apprentice technician and working in many departments in between, I have built a love for the automotive world and love talking cars with anyone interested!
Our current fleet includes a 2015 Lexus GX 460 (my daily driver), a 2025 Toyota Tundra (my husband’s daily driver), a lowered 1990 Chevy K1500, and a 1995 two-toned Ford F-250 with the 7.3L engine. I used to own a 1992 Ford F-150 with the 5.8L engine, but we deemed 4 trucks to be a bit much haha.
