Port Orchard Senior Pictures | Adam's Spring Session at Howe Farm

Adam's senior pictures at Howe Farm in Port Orchard landed right in that sweet spot of early spring, the kind of evening where winter isn't quite gone but you can feel it leaving. The trees were just starting to push out their first small green leaves, the tall grass was still muted and grey-green from the cold, and the whole location had this soft, quiet energy that made everything feel really fresh and light.

Howe Farm in April looks completely different from what you'd see there in the summer or fall. The greens are still muted and coming in slow, which actually worked really well for Adam's session — the softer color palette kept the focus on him without a lot of visual competition. We moved through the tall grass field, a small grove of trees, and spent time at the white barn, which gave us a totally different feel from the field shots.

Adam brought two jerseys that mean a lot to him — his school baseball jersey and his year-round travel team jersey — plus his bat and glove. That's the kind of detail that makes a senior session feel like him rather than just a pretty location shoot. We worked all of it in, and the jerseys against the barn and the field felt completely natural rather than staged.

His other look was a simple white t-shirt and jeans, which was a great contrast to the jerseys — clean and easy, and it let the spring greens and that overcast-with-bits-of-sun light do its thing. Overcast evenings at Howe Farm are underrated. The light is soft and even with no harsh shadows, and when the sun pokes through the clouds for a few minutes it adds just a little warmth without blowing anything out.
