North Kitsap Senior Pictures | Jackson’s Spring Session at Point No Point

Jackson's senior pictures at Point No Point were one of those sessions where the sky becomes part of the shoot. The clouds that evening had real texture and pattern to them, and they kept shifting the light from warm to cool and back again throughout our time there. It gave the photos this variety that you usually only get by changing locations, and the blue hues that came through at certain moments added something you just can't recreate. The sunset didn't break through near the horizon like we hoped, but honestly the pictures we got were cooler for it.

Point No Point in April had that vibrant early spring green going on — the trees were fully leafed out and bright, which gave a nice contrast against the beach and the shifting cloud tones. We worked through the beach, the driftwood, and got some shots near the lighthouse, which has a totally different feel from the open beach and adds some structure and texture that works really well for guys especially.

The tide was medium that evening, which kept the beach accessible without a lot of variation in the sand. Nothing dramatic to work around, which meant we could focus on moving through the location and getting the most out of the light while it lasted.

Jackson came with one outfit and it was the right call. A grey sweater, jeans, and matching grey shoes that fit the tones of the location almost perfectly. The cool greys against the spring greens and the shifting cloud light worked really naturally together, and keeping it simple meant the focus stayed on him and the environment rather than the clothes. Sometimes one strong outfit is all you need.

One of my favorite moments from this session was when I told Jackson to look around and pick something that stood out to him. He pointed out an angle I tend to overlook, and the shots we got from it turned out to be some of the best of the evening. It's always really cool when a senior comes in with instincts like that.
