Kitsap Senior Pictures | Amya’s Session at Howe Farm

Amya's senior pictures at Howe Farm in Port Orchard were the kind of session that reminds you why spring evenings at this location are so special. Amya came out earlier this spring for a cap and gown session and loved it enough to book a full senior portrait session — if you want to see that one first, check out her Point No Point grad session here. This time we had a warm, sunny evening with that glowy creamy light that only shows up when the conditions are just right, and Howe Farm in late May had something going for it that it only has for a few weeks out of the year.

The lupines were in full bloom. The lupine patch at Howe Farm in late May brings in these tall, rich purple blooms that add a color and texture to the location that you simply cannot replicate at any other time of year. Against the lush greens of the grass and trees and that warm evening light, it made for a backdrop that felt genuinely painterly without any extra effort.

Amya's first outfit was a lace white long sleeve off the shoulder top with a blue jean skirt, and it was a perfect pairing for the lupine patch and the open field. The white against the purples and greens felt clean and soft at the same time, and the lace on the top added a subtle texture to the photos that gave them a little extra dimension. It is the kind of detail that you notice without necessarily knowing why the image feels richer.

For her second look she wore a butter yellow dress, and we moved to the white barn for that set. The yellow against the white barn and the surrounding green trees did not stand out in a bold or jarring way but rather in a soft, warm way that made everything feel cohesive and golden. The creamy evening light tied it all together and gave those barn shots a warmth that matched the dress perfectly. It is one of those outfit and location combinations that just makes sense the moment you see it.
