3 of the Best Locations to Take Senior Portraits in Kitsap County, Washington

If you live in or around Kitsap County, you already know just how beautiful it is and how lucky we are to have so many great parks around us. But which of the parks are best to take your senior portraits at? That is what I am here to help answer.

Not all parks are created equal when it comes to having the ideal lighting, balanced backdrops, and diverse surroundings that make for a perfect photo location. The locations I have listed below meet the criteria I have to produce amazing senior portraits.

If we haven’t met yet, hi, my name is Sonia, and I am a senior portrait photographer in Kitsap County. I have other helpful resources in my blog and on my website for planning your senior session – check them out after this one!

Point No Point – Hansville, WA

Point No Point is a beach located at one of the northernmost points of Kitsap County. It is one of the only beaches in our area to have fine sand and rocks on the beach, rather than just rocks. Some of Point No Point’s features include a lighthouse, beach, driftwood, and tall beach grass.

Another benefit of choosing Point No Point is that it offers flexibility on times you can have your senior session there. Most sessions there take place between late afternoon to early sunset as the trees next to the beach provide lots of shade from the bright sun while the vast openness of the water provides the light to make you still pop. On cloudy days, you can get great pictures during the morning and afternoon. For the sunrise lovers, you can get some glowy shots in or near the water and as the sun starts to rise, golden light hits you beautifully in the tall grass area, especially in late fall/winter!

Point No Point is perfect for seniors who want to lean into the PNW coastal vibes, whether that’s on a clear day in a summery dress or on an overcast day in a cozy sweater.

Clear Creek Trails – Silverdale, WA

The Clear Creek Trails in the Central Kitsap area are another favorite photoshoot location of mine. You get the perfect mix of tall grass fields, forest, and marshy boardwalks. What more can you ask for! There is even a cute small wooden bridge in the midst of the fields.

Not only do the Clear Creek Trails have a ton of variety, they are also located right at the top of Silverdale, making it a short commute for those who live nearby. This location is best in late spring, summer, and early fall and has beautiful lighting in the evenings.

Seniors who are looking for soft, glowy senior photos surrounded by tall grass tend to LOVE Clear Creek Trails!

Howe Farm – Port Orchard, WA

Howe Farm is another great tall grass field option located in South Kitsap that has a few extra features that make it unique. Howe Farm is known not only for its large field of tall grass, but also for its rustic white barn. On top of those two amazing features, Howe Farm also has beautiful foliage around the park that add variety to your portraits. In the late spring, Howe Farm has a quaint patch of tall purple flowers that look amazing in your photos.

My favorite lighting at Howe Farm is in the evening, a few hours before sunset. It tends to look the best in photos between mid-to-late April and mid December, leaving you with a wide range of dates to have your senior session there!

Howe Farm is a favorite location for Kitsap seniors who are looking to embrace the rustic, country aesthetic in their portraits.
